Wow, where do I begin? I learned of the Hourglass when I met the Hurds at a recent event where we were both vendors. (I work for Espresso Escape, a mobile coffee cafe.) I had the tri-tip sandwich at the event which was very good. Yesterday, a friend and I decided to go out to lunch. I told her I'd like to try the Hourglass, so we headed out for a late lunch. We were very impressed with the look and feel of the restaurant. Upscale but not pretentious, open yet intimate. Our server, Grace was more than fantastic! Besides being friendly, courteous and charming, she was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to make some excellent recommendations. Her customer service was extraordinary! Truly outstanding and superb. It's really a wonderful thing that Bakersfield finally has a restaurant worthy of the finest found in any classic metropolitan area of the nation. Up until now we Bakersfielders had to settle for Elephant Bar (ok) or PF Chang's (now my SECOND favorite) as the "better" places to dine, well, not anymore! I, for one, hope to frequent your establishment again and again. You can count on me to recommend the Hourglass to all my friends and family.
